The summer show season is heating up with riders across the country competing for points to qualify for a spot in the Washington International Horse Show’s (WIHS) most exciting year-end championships.
Don’t miss your chance to compete at the 2023 WIHS Championships. New this year, prize money has increased to $12,500 for the WIHS Children's and Adult Jumper Championships and a welcome class has been added for the WIHS Children’s and Adult Hunter Championships, both presented by MARS Equestrian™.
There is more incentive than ever to enter WIHS as a Children’s or Adult competitor in 2023. This year will feature an expanded WIHS Children’s and Adult Hunter Championship spanning two days on Monday, October 23, and Tuesday, October 24, that includes a $2,500 Welcome Class and the exciting $10,000 Final taking center stage on Tuesday afternoon. Jumper competitors get the chance to compete for a larger prize money purse of $12,500 in their featured final on the evening of Wednesday, October 25.
The 65th annual Washington International Horse Show presented by MARS Equestrian™ will return to The Show Place Arena at Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD, from October 23 through October 29, 2023. Horse enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy one of the world’s most acclaimed horse shows offering a Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) five-star rating and seven days and three nights of exciting competition, special events, and fun for all.
The WIHS Prize List will be released in mid-July and entry applications will open via Show Management System.
How To Qualify
To qualify for the WIHS Equitation Finals and WIHS Championships, riders must be active WIHS members for their points to count toward eligibility and must compete to earn points in qualifying classes held at more than 600 shows throughout the country. Riders with the most points will qualify for the following Championships held at WIHS in October:
- WIHS Equitation Finals
- WIHS Pony Equitation Finals presented by Huntland
- $12,500 WIHS Children's Hunter Championship presented by MARS Equestrian™
– $2,500 Welcome Class Monday, $10,000 Final Tuesday
- $12,500 WIHS Adult Hunter Championship presented by MARS Equestrian™
– $2,500 Welcome Class Monday, $10,000 Final Tuesday
- $12,500 WIHS Children's Jumper Championship presented by MARS Equestrian™
– $12,500 Final Wednesday
- $12,500 WIHS Adult Jumper Championship presented by MARS Equestrian™
– $12,500 Final Wednesday
